Imphal, August 29 2024:
Stating that people of the state are facing serious problems due to the protracted conflict, Manipur Meitei Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO) president Boboi Khorimayum has remarked that both the central and state governments are violating the constitutional rights of the people.
Addressing the media at MMWO's Hapta office, here, on Thursday, Boboi said that the current events, though undesired will etched in the history of Manipur.
However, for the future generations, it could become an insight into the disunity among the indigenous population, casting aspersions on the present generations, he observed.
Commenting on the hostile attitude of the government with regard to protests in the valley in comparison to the inaction when some 10-20 people block the lifeline of the state in the hill areas; he said that this clearly shows the biased and partial attitude of both the central and state governments.
He continued that instead of trying to resettle the thousands of displaced people living in relief camps in their original homes, the government is engrossed in thinking over how to divide the people and communities.
Thus, Boboi stressed the need for the people to maintain unity and integrity against such attempts.
Emphasising the need for instilling the spirit of patriotism and nationalism among the youth, Boboi said that youth need to be well informed of their state.
Different platforms should be set to further the knowledge.
No matter how educated or how high a position an individual is holding, he/she cannot lead and be empathetic to the suffering of the people, or protect the land if he/she does not have the patriotic spirit, he opined.
