Several weapons including bombs recovered in search ops

Imphal, September 28 2024: In the continuing search operation being conducted by security forces; numerous weapons including bombs have been recovered from Thoubal, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts.

According to a statement of the Manipur police control room, search operations were conducted at Phainomchingsang in Thoubal district, Loiching hill in Kangpokpi district and Gothol village in Churachandpur district in the past 24 hours.

In the search operation conducted jointly by Manipur police and Assam Rifles (AR) at Phainomchingsang in Thoubal district, several arms and ammunition were recovered.

The recoveries included four UE-36 hand grenades, two Pumpi shells, three detonators, 29 empty cases, one stun grenade, one stinger grenade, one tear smoke grenade and two radio sets with charger.

In the search operation conducted jointly by Manipur police and AR at Loiching hill in Kangpokpi district, several arms and ammunition were also recovered.

The recoveries included two .303 Bolt Action Rifles, one 9mm pistol with magazine, 20 live ammuni tion rounds, four HE-36 hand grenades two detonators, one tube launching, one rubber bullet, two SMK grenades, one long range walkie talkie set, one country made mortar without cartridge, one mortar bomb, one long range improvised mortar shell, one long range Improvised mortar, one BP jacket and six other items.

A combined team of Manipur police, BSF and CRPF also conducted a similar search operation at Gothol village in Churachandpur district and recovered two improvised Pumpis.
