Anti-drug awareness programme conducted

An awareness programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (anti-drug campaign) was jointly conducted by RIMS Department of Community Medicine and Department of Psychiatry in collaboration with DM College of Arts at the latter's premises on Wednesday.
In his address, Department of Community Medicine's Dr Ranachandra Nandeibam stressed the need to curtail easy availability of substances commonly abused by college students, decrease demand of these substances by creating awareness and early detection, treatment and rehabilitation of the affected students.
As per a release, Dr Anil Kadwasra spoke as resource person on 'Temptations in Campus: Its Impact and Coping Strategies to Ward Off Substance Abuse' with Department of Community Medicine professor Dr Brogen Singh Akoijam, Department of Psychiatry professor Dr RK Lenin and DM College of Arts principal T Ranjit Singh moderating the discussion and presenting insightful deliberations, while emphasising on the need to translate discussion into tangible actions.
The release further informed that following the interactive session, participants took the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan pledge to contribute their mite in making the state and the nation drug free.
