Weapons recovered, two UG cadres arrested

Imphal, February 27 2025:
In a series of operations carried out by Manipur Police and central security forces, several weapons and ammunition were recovered, and two active cadres of UG organisations arrested.
On Thursday, a joint team of Yaingangpokpi police station and central security forces conducted search in Urangpat area under the station, and recovered one modified sniper rifle with a telescopic sight, one 9mm pistol with magazine, five 36 HE hand grenades, two Baofeng radio sets, five bipod mounted Pompi guns, two heavy fin-stabilised projectiles, one hand-fired Pompi gun, three large Pompi bombs, eight small Pompi bombs, 11 sniper rounds, seven 7.62mm rounds, and 82 5.56mm rounds, along with four 9mm rounds.
Earlier on Wednesday, police arrested one active cadre of PREPAK (PRO), identified as Sapam Jamesbond alias Nganba (25) from Singjamei Makha Kakwa Asem Leikai near M/s KEN Automobile Works.
Jamesbond was allegedly involved inextortion activities, including monetary demands from the public, government offices, businessmen, shops, and pradhans.
Police recovered two mobile handsets, a sum of Rs 800, and a car from his possession.
On the same day, police arrested one Shamjetsabam Romananda Singh (23), an active cadre of the proscribed KYKL, from Imphal Inter national Airport under the Singjamei PS.
Additionally, on February 24, a search operation conducted near the eastern end of Kiyamgei Bridge in Kiyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai, Imphal East district, led to the recovery of one single-barrel gun, 10 .303 rifle ammunition, three tear gas shells, and 11 .32-bore ammunition, according to police report.
