MCPCR chairperson calls for one stop grievance centre for displaced children

Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) chairperson Keisham Pradipkumar stressed the need for setting up a 'one stop grievance centre' for internally displaced children.
He was speaking during a consultation programme organised by MCPCR on 'Children Rights issues on internally displaced children: searching for solution' at Manipur Press Club here at Majorkhul on Saturday.
The inaugural programme was attended by MCPCR chairperson Keisam Pradipkumar, Manipur Alliance for Child Rights convenor Montu Ahanthem and United NGOs Mission Manipur secretary L Pisak.
During the consultation, MCPCR chairperson Keisam Pradipkumar noted that the displaced children taking shelter at relief camps are facing terrible inconveniences in their education, livelihood and mental health.
"In order to allay some of their problems, a specific authority and a department need to be set up and also there is a need for a one stop grievance Centre exclusively for internally displaced children," he added.
MCPCR legal counsel Th Rajkishore spoke on 'existing grievance redressal mechanism of IDP', Child Marriage Prohibition officer Imphal East Reena Chanu Moirangthem on 'Child marriage: prevention & intervention mechanism', JJB Tengnoupal member A Ibemcha on 'Importance of life skill education of IDP children' and clinical psychologist Pampak Khumukcham on 'Dealing mental health issues amongst IDP children' .
