Summer theatre festival begins at Kakching

Kakching, July 26 2024: 'Summer Fest 2024', a national level summer theatre festival which is being organised by Liberty Theatre, Kakching kicked off from Friday at the auditorium of Library and Information Centre, Kakching.

The opening ceremony of 'Summer Fest 2024' was attended by Kakching DC Rohit Anand as chief guest, Writers' Association, Kakching president Pukhrambam Nimai as president and Chauanpore Suhrid, Berhampore, West Bengal director Haraprasad Das as guest of honour.

Prior to the festival, the gathering paid tribute to martyrs who laid down their lives to save Manipur by observing a two-minute silence.

The festival opened with the presentation of Laiching Jagoi by artistes of Liberty Theatre followed by presentation of Dasa Avatar by artistes of Kunjalata Dance Performing and Research Centre, Kakching Wairi and Leima Jagoi performance by artistes of Kids Cultural Academy, Kakching Chum-nang Leikai and Khubak Eeshei by artistes of Performing Art and Cultural Centre, Kakching.

The festival organised with financial assistance under the Cultural Function and Protection Grant (CFPG) scheme of the Ministry of Culture is being participated by four theatre groups.

On the opening day, Chauanpore Suhrid of Berhampore, West Bengal presented its play 'Tota Kahini' .
