Houses of Biswajit, Satyabrata stormed

Large numbers of COCOMI women's wing volunteers stormed the official residence of forest & environment and agriculture minister Th Biswajit and the residence of speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata on Tuesday.
Demanding clear stand of the elected representatives of the people on the more than one year long conflict and the prevailing unrest situation in Manipur, COCOMI women's wing volunteers have been storming residences of legislators.
Holding placards inscribed with slogans denouncing alleged support of Kuki narco-terrorist by the Union government, threatening severance of ties with India in case PM Modi continues to ignore plight and suffering of people of Manipur, asking ministers and MLAs to tender resignation in case inability to safeguard emotional and territorial integrity of Manipur, the COCOMI volunteers took out a rally from Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace compound at about 1 pm .
The rallyists first entered the official quarters of minister Biswajit at Sanjenthong and tried to meet the minister.
However, Biswajit was away at a hospital to meet one of his ailing family members at the time and the women volunteers retreated from his quarters.
COCOMI women's wing volunteers then marched till Brahmapur Bhieigyapati Leikai and stormed the private residence of speaker Th Satyabrata, who came out and held talk.
The women volunteers told Th Satyabrata that Manipur cannot be divided in any manner and people's representatives must stand solidly in this regard.
They also demanded clear stand from the speaker and told him to make public his clear stand on the issue.
Meanwhile, COCOMI women's wing coordinator told media persons on the sidelines of the protest that Kuki MLAs are shepherding their people and openly demanding a homeland carved out from Manipur.
Not only the Meeteis, the Kukis and their 10 legislators are standing solidly against the indigenous people inhabiting the state, she said and questioned what the remaining 50 MLAs belonging to Meetei, Naga and Meitei Pangal communities are doing at this critical period.
She also asked the 50 MLAs to announce their decision after meeting central leaders or resign if unable to save Manipur.
