Lecture programme on 'Waree Leeba' held

Imphal, November 24 2024: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Bishnupur on Saturday conducted a "One day lecture cum demonstration on Waree Leeba" under the PMSHRI School Bagless Day programme.

In a release, PMSHRI programme coordinator Dr Arambam Birjit informed that the initiative is an approach to conserve and preserve the declining popularity of the precious art form "Waree Leeba" by embracing into school academic environment.

'The moral values of the art form can obviously be instilled in the minds of young students if we can give a proper place or chance to attend it', Birjit added.

As a part of the programme, Vidyalaya's fine art teacher K Nillakanta Singh spoke on the topic "Modernisation vs Cultural Conservation" while Guru Takhellambam Shyamkanhal Singh deliberated on "Social Importance of Waree Leeba Art Form" and also demonstrated with an episode of Mahabharata.
