Aquarium, flower fair concludes

The 9th state-level aquarium exhibition-cum-flower show held at Manipur Science Aquarium, DM University campus, from October 18 concluded on Thursday.
Informing that the fair was organised in association with aquarists and floriculturists of the state, Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC), said the week-long event featured a range of attractions including indigenous fish and plants along with exotic varieties, indigenous plants/flowers & bonsai, aquascaping competition, lecture series for college students and training workshop on fabrication of aquarium and its management.
About 50 varieties of local and exotic fish, 120 plants/flowers, 30 bonsai, and 50 indigenous plants were put on display during the programme.
Altogether 13 aquascapers participated in the aquascaping competition and 34 individuals benefited from the training programme.
Rahul Hanglem of Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi, Th Dikash Singh of Keishamthong Moirang Ningthou Leirak and Th Bhoj Sai of Khongman Mangjil were respectively adjudged first, second and third position winners of the Aquascaping competition.
Manipur University CDC director Prof N Mohilal Meitei, DM College of Science, Department of Zoology head Prof L Hemchandra Singh and MASTEC director Dr L.Minaketan Singh distributed certificates, cash prizes and mementos to the winners and participants during the valedictory function.
