RIMS gets Tobacco Cessation Centre

In a step aimed at reducing tobacco use among the youth, union health minister Jagat Prakash Nadda virtually inaugurated a Tobacco Cessation Centre at the RIMS Department of Psychiatry on Tuesday.
The event marked a key initiative of the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 2.0, as part of the National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP).
According to a RIMS Media Cell release, the newly established Tobacco Cessation Centre is set to provide a range of services to help individuals quit tobacco, including personalised counselling, nicotine replacement therapies, and mental health support.
The centre will play a crucial role in furthering India s mission to build a tobacco-free nation.
NTCP has been instrumental in reducing tobacco use through public health policies, regulating tobacco sales, and establishing cessation centres across the country.
The virtual inauguration was attended by RLMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh, head of psychiatry department Dr S Gojendra Singh, and head of clinical psychology department assistant professor Dr Sameeta Ng as well as RIMS faculty, staff, and students.
