Blood donation marks Rotary International anniversary

Imphal, February 23 2025:
The Rotary Club of Imphal, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal, observed the 120th anniversary of Rotary International by organising a 'Rotary Blood Donation Camp' at Rotary Bhavan, Mantripukhri on Sunday.
Supported by RIMS Blood Transfusion Department, the camp had the participation of 39 donors.
Certificates and refreshment items were distributed to all donors in appreciation of their contributions.
Informing this, a statement of Rotary Club of Imphal said that the event marked the founding day of the first-ever Rotary Club, established on February 23, 1905, in Chicago, USA, by Paul Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram Shorey.
As part of the observance, a 'Rotary Peace Pole' inscribed with the words "May Peace Prevail on Earth" was inaugurated by past assistant governor Dr Th Dhabali.
During the club's regular weekly meeting, past AG Pramod Chhabra spoke on the significance of 'World Understanding & Peace Day'.
Club president Saratchandra Phijam highlighted Rotary's century-long dedication to global goodwill and peace, while emphasising the importance of promoting unity among diverse communities.
He also thanked RIMS for their support and encouraged voluntary blood donation to help save lives, the statement added.
