AR conducts ESM rally, 'meet the commander'

Assam Rifles on Monday organised an ex-service-men rally at Modi village in Tengnoupal district, uniting veterans, Veer Naris, and families of martyrs to pay tribute to those who served the nation.
According to a PRO IGAR S) release, rally was aimed at strengthening the connection with the retired personnel and honour the invaluable contributions made by the families of the fallen heroes.
The rally saw participation of 100 ex-servicemen, 29 Veer Naris and 13 dependents.
The Veer Naris and the families of martyrs were honoured by presenting gifts as token of respect for their sacrifices.
Various welfare schemes were discussed, with assurances that all concerns would be prioritised, the release added.
On the other-hand, Assam Rifles organised 'A Day with Company Commander' for students from various schools in Kasong village of Kamjong district on Tuesday.
Another release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the event aimed to inspire and motivate young minds, kindling a sense of nationalism and camaraderie.
A total of 45 students, staff of the schools and parents from Kasong and Nambashi villages participated in various cultural programmes and recreational activities.
The children witnessed various routines of a soldier and the various institutions within the camp which gave them an insight about the life of a soldier, it said.
The release further stated that a wreath laying ceremony was organised at the Kasong Company Operating Base in memory of the martyrs who had laid down their lives in service of the nation.
This solemn event was followed by various recreational activities and games for the participants with the winners being felicitated with prizes.
The students, teachers and parents expressed their appreciation towards AR and promised to extend their wholehearted support to the security forces, it added.
