AIMS celebrates 13th foundation day

Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) celebrated its 13th Foundation Day on Thursday at its Kwakeithel head office.
In a statement, AIMS informed that the event was held in a low-key manner in light of the ongoing crisis in the state.
The programme was attended by AIMS president Oinam Nikarson, LIPUL president Thokchom Sbmorendro and IKAL general secretary Wahengbam Luwangleima as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Delivering the presidential address, Nikarson highlighted the role played by AIMS in key socio-political issues affecting the state, including the demand for Inner Line Permit (ILP), the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), and the then MU vice chancellor AP Pandey issue.
He also reflected on the demands for repeal Of AFSPA, implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), the May 3 violence perpetrated by illegal immigrants, and concerns over the impending delimitation exercise.
He further stated that AIMS has being organising public meetings and classroom awareness campaigns to educate the masses about these pressing issues.
All efforts of the organisation are aimed at safeguarding the welfare and future of the younger generations, he added.
