Quiz contest on road safety conducted

As part of observance of National Road Safety Month, Zonal Education Office, Thoubal and District Transport Office, Thoubal under the aegis of district administration, Thoubal conducted a District Level Quiz Competition at the auditorium hall of Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School Thoubal on Tuesday.
The opening function of the competition which was participated by students from four schools of the district was attended by Thoubal deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subash, Thoubal ZEO Arambam Anilkumar, Thobual district transport officer Hemochandra Irengbam and Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School principal M Muhindro as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Thoubal DC A Subhash stated that it is alarming that 1060 accident cases were reported in District Hospital, Thoubal in 2024 .
He urged parents and guardians to be wary of the recent trend of underage driving.
"Order has been issued for writing out e-chalan of Rs 5000 for driving without driving licence or lack of other documents.
Hence, all of us should stringently follow traffic rules to reduce the rising rate of accidents," he said.
New Era Higher Secondary School emerged as the winner in the quiz competition, followed by Peace and Freedom Academy in second place, Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School in third, and KM Blooming Higher Secondary School in fourth.
The winners of the quiz competition will be presented their awards on Republic Day programme.
