Public support needed for benefits to reach PwDs, elders: Kebi

Manipur State Women's Development Corporation chairperson and Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA S Kebi has appealed to the public to extend their support to department concerned in ensuring benefits of various government schemes reach person with disabilities (PwD) and senior citizens on time.
Speaking at the assessment cum aid distribution programme organised by the MLA in collaboration with Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Takyel at Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai community hall on Monday, Kebi stated that government has initiated various welfare schemes for PwD and senior citizens.
However, due to lack of awareness many such schemes do not reach the intended target.
As such public cooperation to the government is required so that the benefits reach them, she reiterated.
The event was marked by distribution of wheel chairs, walking sticks, lumbo sacral belts, hearing aids, knee braces, walking sticks with seat and battery operated motorised tricycles to selected beneficiaries under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana and Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids/Appliances schemes.
Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Takyel director N Khobi was also present at the function.
