RIMS observes World Liver Day

Imphal, April 19 2025:
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, observed World Liver Day on Saturday under the theme "Food is Medicine", with an aim to raise awareness about liver health and the importance of diet in preventing liver diseases.
As part of the observance, a health awareness campaign was conducted at Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal, in collaboration with students from DM College of Commerce.
The initiative sought to educate students on liver-friendly dietary habits and the role of nutrition in maintaining liver function.
In another outreach activity, an awareness programme was held for Class IX and X students at Ratan Memorial School, Kwakeithel, Heinoukhongnembi.
The session was led by Professor Romeo Singh and Dr Sridevi Laishram from the Department of Medicine, RIMS.
The speakers sensitised students to the significance of liver health, the detrimental effects of consuming junk food, and the increasing prevalence of lifestyle-induced liver disorders.
In his address, Professor Romeo Singh underscored the liver's essential function in overall health and the impact of daily habits on liver wellbeing.
He urged students to reduce their intake of unhealthy foods, remain adequately hydrated, and adopt a balanced diet for long-term health.
On the occasion, the World Liver Day pledge was administered by Professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma, director RIMS Imphal, to delegates of MESOCON (Medical Society Conference) at Jubilee Hall, RIMS .
