Legal aid, awareness campaign held at relief camp

Imphal, June 17 2025:
Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority organised legal aid clinic and awareness campaign at the Pravabati College, Mayang Imphal relief camp of IDPs on Tuesday.
The campaign was attended by Manipur High Court Chief Justice Kempaiah Somashekar, and justices Ahanthem Bimol Singh and A Guneshwar Sharma among others.
A free health camp was also organised at the relief camp and essential items including plastic box, bucket, soap, detergent, sanitary pad, torch light, toys and clothes for children provided to the relief camp residents.
Chief Justice Kempaiah affirmed that the Constitution guarantees equality among citizens and that the judiciary is committed to upholding their rights and ensuring justice.
He assured that all victims of the Manipur conflict would receive justice, adding that the Manipur High Court would support internally displaced persons.
Justice Ahanthem Bimol further pointed out that High Court judges, judicial officials, and Bar Association members have been supporting IDPs through donations from their salaries.
He stated that the recent state visit by five senior Supreme Court judges, including the Chief Justice of India, led to the expansion of legal aid programmes in relief camps across the state.
He maintained that MASLSA, guided by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) , has been providing legal and humanitarian assistance to the displaced families.
