Dr GS Moirangthem honoured with Jewel Award

Imphal, December 16 2024: Dr (Prof) GS Moirangthem, a distinguished surgeon from the state, has been conferred the prestigious "Jewel Award 2024" by the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) during the 84th Annual Conference of ASI held in Agra on December 12 .

According to a statement of Karkinos Manipur, Dr GS Moirangthem currently serves as the director and CEO of Karkinos Manipur Cancer Care Institute and Research Centre, JNIMS campus, Porompat, Imphal East district.

The institute operates as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project in collaboration with the state government.

A surgeon of exceptional calibre, Dr GS Moirangthem holds multiple qualifications, including MS (PGI), FRCS ED (UK), FICS, FAIS, FMAS, FIAGES, and FCLS.

Before his current role, he served as the professor and head of the department of surgery at RIMS, earning widespread respect for his contributions in the field of medicine.

The Karkinos Manipur Cancer Care Institute expressed delight over this milestone, which highlights the achievements of the state's medical fraternity.

The recognition not only honours Dr GS Moirangthem's excellence in surgery but also underscores the growing prominence of Manipur in the healthcare sector, the statement added.
