Manipuri Pony Society to host stallion show

Imphal, April 15 2025: Manipuri Pony Society (MPS) will organise the 3rd Stallion Show (Mapa Sha) of Manipuri pony breeds aged four years and above on Thursday at Mapal Kangjeibung (Pologround) .

Sponsored by Mangal Foundation, the event will begin at 9 am under the supervision of veterinary doc tors from the department of veterinary and animal husbandry services.

Owners of Manipuri stallions above four years are required to report to functionaries of the Manipuri Pony Society, Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung by 7:30 am .

The Stallion Show is being held as part of the efforts to preserve and promote the indigenous Manipuri pony breed.

The event is organised by the Manipuri Pony Society with support from the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association and the Manipur Equestrian Association.

The Manipuri pony, considered one of the old est equine breeds in Asia, holds significant cultural and historical importance in the state, particularly for its association with the traditional game of polo.

The Stallion Show is expected to draw attention to conservation efforts while encouraging breeders to maintain the purity and health of the indigenous breed, informed a statement issued by Manipuri Pony Society.
