One dies, three injured in accident

Kakching, May 13 2024: A woman got killed after being hit by a Bolero, while three others, including the Bolero's driver, suffered injuries in an accident in Kakching Khunou Lamkhai area on Monday.

The woman identified as Salam Roshini Devi (28) d/o Salam Shanti of Kakching Khunou Thongam Awang Leikai, succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.

The injured individuals are Rojibala (40), w/o Kh Okendro of Kakching Khunou Thingnam Bokul Leikai, Meishnam Debala (34) w/o M Rojesh of Kakching Khunou Thongam and Bolero driver Khumukcham Basanta (45) s/o Kh Amu of Kakching Khunou Tampakyum LP School Leikai.

According to reports, the Bolero (MN 01AW1591) driven by Basanta, lost control while traveling from Kakching Khunou towards Kakching Khunou Lamkhai and veered towards the women who were purchasing essential items from shops near the UFO Kakching Khunou branch turning.

Before hitting the women, the vehicle also collided with an auto-rickshaw along the way.

However, the rickshaw driver did not suffer any major injuries.

Waikhong police station has registered a case regarding the incident and deposited the lifeless at JNIMS mortuary for post-mortem.
