CRPF trooper shoots self after killing two colleagues

Imphal, February 13 2025: A trooper of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) shot himself dead after claiming the lives of two other personnel and injuring eight others on Thursday evening.

The two victims have been identified as SI/GD Tilak Raj and constable Rajiv Ranjan, while the deceased shooter has been identified as head constable/GD Sanjay Kumar.

All three belonged to 120 Battalion CRPF.

According to a police report, the incident occurred around 8pm Thursday at the campus of Lamsang police station in Imphal West district where the 120 Battalion CRPF is stationed.

Head constable Sanjay Kumar allegedly fired from his service weapon with two of the rounds hitting the two personnel, who died on spot.

Sanjay then turned the gun and shot himself dead.

Eight other CRPF personnel were also injured in the incident and ar.e currently undergoing treatment at RIMS hospital.

They are identified as inspector Surti Lal, SI Yashwantrao, head constable Brajesh Kumar Bhardwaj, constable W Kumar Paswan, constable Ranjit Kumar Pramanik, constable Sanjiv Kumar Prasad, constable Lambodar Doren and constable Sapkal Manoj.
