Central teams assess Cyclone Remal damages

Bishnupur/Thoubal, June 10 2024:
An inter-ministerial team from the Centre including officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare visited Bishnupur district on Monday to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rainfall, hailstorms, and flood triggered by Cyclone Remal.
The inter-ministerial team included additional advisor Dr Rajashekharan, under-secretary (MoRD) Rajiv Rana, DOE Mahendra Chandrella, and junior scientific officer Shrivasamurlli.
They were accompanied by Bishnupur DC L Bikram, ADM H Bobby and SDOs of Nambol, Bishnupur and Moirang, along with subordinate staff.
The team visited several affected areas, including Phubala, Sunusiphai, Naranseina under Moirang assembly constituency; Khoijuman and Oinam Mamang under Oinam AC; and Utlou under Nambol AC.
Their assessment aimed to evaluate the extent of damages caused and determine the necessary relief measures for the affected communities.
Another inter-ministerial central team, comprising Dr Badal Bishwakarma from the Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dr Jintu Das from the Ministry of Agriculture and Family Welfare, and Dr Shivcharan Meena from Niti Aayog, conducted a similar assessment in Thoubal district.
The team held a meeting at the conference hall of DC office in Thoubal, which was attended by ADM Thoubal B Lokeswor and other district-level officers.
During the meeting, the team reviewed damage reports and field inquiry findings to gain a comprehensive understanding of the impact of the recent extreme weather events.
Following the meeting, the team visited various parts of Thoubal district that had been affected by heavy rainfall and flood.
