Anti-drug programme held at Noney village

An awareness programme on drug addiction and substance abuse was jointly organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Tamenglong, in collaboration with Khongnangthaba University under the aegis of Kangleipak Foundation and the Inpui Development Association at Dolang Chiru village in Noney.
According to a press release of Khongnangthaba University, the event commenced with prayer by Dolang Chiru village chairman Mathew Thoirei, followed by insightful presentation by social activist Dr Ch Gesper (Korung) Maring from Kambang Khunou, Tengnoupal district.
Dr Gesper addressed the critical issue of drug addiction, underscoring its devastating impact on youth, families, and society.
He presented alarming statistics on the rising rates of substance abuse in Manipur and called for proactive preventive education and community-driven intervention measures to combat the crisis.
Baanchui Khumba, secretary Inpui Development Association, shared inspiring accounts of rehabilitation and recovery.
He emphasised the vital role of community involvement, family support, and structured rehabilitation programmes in addressing drug abuse.
Baanchui urged the youth to engage in constructive community activities and foster a culture of care, compassion, and unity.
The session featured an interactive discussion where resource speakers addressed participants' queries.
The programme concluded with a closing prayer led by Church Elder Jonah Thorei.
The initiative witnessed participation from local residents, youth representatives, and community leaders, added the release.
