House passes seven demands, four bills

Seven Demands for Grants amounting to Rs 6570,10,18,000 have been approved in Wednesday's evening session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
After chief minster N Biren tabled the Demands for Grants, Cut policies were moved by opposition MLAs Th Lokeshwar, O Surjakumar and K Meghachandra regarding the grants but were later withdrawn after discussion paving the way for passing of the seven Demands for Grants.
The Demands for Grants approved include (Demand No 17) Agriculture - Rs 378,87,83,000; (No 20) Community and Rural Development - Rs 4110,89,93,000; (No.23) Power - Rs 510,19,29,000; (No 25) Youth Affairs and Sports Development - Rs 98,13,78,000; (No 30) Planning - Rs 907,67,02,000; (No 42) State Academy of Training - Rs 13,52,25,000; and (Demand No 47) Minorities and Other Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes Department - Rs 550,80,08,000.Meanwhile, the Manipur Legislative Assembly, had on Monday, passed four Bills, two each placed for consideration and passing by chief minister N Biren Singh and education minister Th Basantakumar.
The chief minister introduced the 'Manipur Contingency Fund Bill, 2024' and 'The Schedule Caste and Other Backward Classes (Regulation of Issuance and Verification of Caste certificates) while the education minister introduced 'The Dhanamanjuri University (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024' and 'The Manipur Private School (Registration and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2024'.Following discussion and approval by the House, all the Bills were passed.
