Imphal, March 05 2025: Loyalam Apunba Nupi Lup, an affiliate of Poirei Leimarol, has asked the government authorities to stop targeting village volunteers.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Wednesday, Lup president khomdram Ibemhal contended that lack of commitment and efficiency of the security forces in protecting lives and properties of the people during the conflict since May 3, 2023, forced the civilians to take up arms to defend the fringe villages with many sacrificing their lives.

Alleging that the on-going crisis is outcome of the government of India's diabolic plan to obliterate Manipur, she opined that the hidden agenda would have fructified by how had the village volunteers did not stepped in to save the people from elements inimical to unity of the indigenes.

Nevertheless, in-spite of failure to accomplish the task due to existence of the village volunteers, the centre has been resorting to different strategies to achieve the goal, Ibemhal contended, while expressing that imposition of the President's Rule by dismissing the elected government and attempting to round up the village volunteers, who took vital role in protecting Manipur.

She also alleged that central forces are siding with a particular community to suppress indigenous communities of Manipur.

Stressing urgent need for the people to unite and put an end to the conflict in order to restore peace and normalcy in the state, the president also remarked that the central government would never take the initiative to resolve the crisis.
