State's organic outlet finds foothold in UAE

In a significant step towards promoting organic farming and expanding global markets for organic produce from Manipur, a new organic outlet was inaugurated in Ajman city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday.
The outlet was virtually launched by principal secretary (agriculture) Arun Kumar Sinha, from his office at the New Secretariat, here, with the inauguration event held in Ajman was attended by Agriculture director Peter Salam and Horticulture and Soil Conservation director K Devadutta Sharma.
The initiative is part of the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER), aimed at boosting organic food production and contributing to holistic development of the state.
The new outlet has been established under the aegis of the Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) of Horticulture and Soil Conservation department and the Directorate of Agriculture.
Speaking on the occasion, Arun Sinha expressed that the UAE outlet would serve as a key platform to showcase and promote Manipur's organic produce on the global stage.
"This is not just a milestone for the organic farmers of Manipur but also a proud moment in the state's journey towards branding itself as an organic state," he said.
The principal secretary further stated that the Ajman outlet adds to the series of organic Outlets already opened in various parts of India and abroad, and will significantly aid in popularising Manipur's organic produce internationally.
Highlighting the government's commitment to supporting farmers, Arun Sinha noted that the initiative exemplifies the department's ongoing efforts to promote and market the products of organic farmers.
"This outlet will help increase the visibility of their products, draw more farmers towards organic cultivation, and boost their income," he remarked.
The principal secretary also extended his appreciation to officials of the Agriculture and Horticulture department, various stakeholders, Mani-puri-run businesses in the UAE and representatives of Manipur Middle East Foodstuff Trading, Ajman, fortheir continued support in making the initiative a reality.
