North East NSS festival held at MU

Imphal, June 02 2025:
Under the aegis of Regional Directorate of NSS Guwahati (Assam) and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, NSS Cell Manipur University organised the North East NSS Festival 2025 at the University on Monday.
As a part of the inauguration function a grand cultural parade featuring NSS volunteers and programme officers from Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Meghalaya, and host Manipur was taken out.
Dressed in their respective traditional attire, each state contingent showcased their unique cultural identity, celebrating the rich diversity of the region.
The parade was received and saluted by Manipur University vice chancellor Prof N Lokendra Singh as chief guest, along with other dignitaries.
The inaugural proceedings included the flag hoisting ceremony, symbolising the unity and commitment of the NSS.
Prof N Lokendra hoisted the Manipur University flag marking the formal beginning of the festival, followed by release of a souvenir commemorating the North East NSS Festival 2025.MU NSS former programme coordinators Prof Ch Ibohal Singh, Prof A Rajmani Singha, Prof Keisham Shitaljit Singh, and Prof M Nodiyachand Singh were also honoured during the inaugural function in recognition of their valuable contributions and dedicated service.
In his address, Prof Lokendra emphasised the pivotal role of NSS in nurturing empathy, discipline, and teamwork-qualities essential to realising the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.Regional Office (NER), Guwahati youth officer Nakul Chandra Deori, in his guest of honour address, reminded the gathering that NSS festival is not merely a celebration, but a reflection of India's Look East Policy.
He expressed gratitude to the visionary leaders for facilitating conduct of such events in the North East, symbolising national support and recognition for the region.
