RIMS inaugurates modular OT complex for PMR department

Imphal, May 30 2025: The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of state-of-the-art Modular Operation Theatre Complex for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), on Friday.

The new facility was inaugurated by RIMS director professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma, in the presence of medical superintendent professor N Sanjib Singh and PMR head professor L Nilachandra Singh.

In a statement, RIMS media cell informed that the Modular Operation Theatre Complex is expected to enhance the quality of surgical care and rehabilitation services provided by the department of PMR, in alignment with RIMS' mission to deliver advanced and accessible healthcare to the people of Manipur and the Northeast region.

Speaking at the event, professor Sunil described it as a proud moment for RIMS to inaugurate such a modern facility within the depart ment of PMR.

He called the theatre complex as a major milestone that will significantly improve surgical care and outcomes for patients with disabilities.

He also conveyed gratitude to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Team Pharma for helping make the vision a reality.

In his address, professor N Sanjib Singh, commended the efforts of both the engineering and medical teams involved in the timely completion of the project and reiterated RIMS' commitment to enhancing healthcare services across all departments.

The programme was attended by the deputy director (Administration), CAO/FA, principal of the College of Nursing, department heads, faculty members and staff of the PMR department.
