Imphal, July 29 2024:
Students of Imphal College have cautioned of launching intense agitations if the authority concerned to not post requisite number of teachers for the College at the earliest.
In a press meet held at the College campus on Monday, a student named Pukhrambam Ranjit said that despite repeated requests to the Education minister, commissioner and Higher &Technical Education director and joint secretary (education) to appoint teachers to address shortage of teachers in the College, no action has been taken up till date.
In September last year, the director of Education (U) issued an order to dispatch two teachers to the College.
However, the two teachers have not joined the College till now.
In this regard, a letter was submitted to the department concerned on March 21 this year, but no clarification has been provided so far, he conveyed, while seeking the same.
Ranjit continued that in the college, a teacher takes five classes daily.
Teachers from the Education and Philosophy Departments have been filling in for the missing teachers in the interest of the students.
He said that the students want to remain as students and urged against harassing them for raising their grievances.
Detaining students will not solve the issue at hand, he remarked and requested for appointment of the requisite teachers at the earliest, failing which the students would be forced to launch intense agitations.
