Dr Jayanta also mentioned that the state introduced its IT Policy in 2012-13, under which the IT Park was established.
He stated that while the IT Park offers a platform for IT professionals to set up their units and begin their work, the IT Special Zone will create opportunities for IT professionals from the state working outside Manipur, as well as other external IT companies, to return to Manipur and operate.
BABINA Group of Companies managing director Dr Th Dhabali, who was also present at the event, stated that those born in the 1950s and still living today are among the most fortunate, as they have witnessed significant changes and developments in the held of IT.
He recalled a time when a 10 MB hard disk was considered large, but now, with advancements in information technology, a small USB drive can hold limitless data.
Further noting significant developments in both hardware and software technologies, Dr Dhabali said: "Today, our smartphones serve as camera, calculator, TV, and radio and the current generation students must understand the evolving IT sector and apply their knowledge across various aspects of their lives".
The inaugural function was also attended by IT Department secretary Thokchom Kirankumar, director Nambam Deben and NIELIT Imphal Academic head and scientist Dr Angom Buboo as presidium members.
