Clear dues, avoid disconnection: MSPDCL

Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) managing director H Shantikumar has issued a public appeal urging consumers with outstanding dues to clear their pending payments promptly and refrain from indulging in power theft, bypassing, hooking, or any illegal consumption of electrical energy, including unauthorised power connections.
In the public appeal, the MD said that theft of electricity is classified as a cognizable offence under Section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003 along with declaring that MSPDCL will carry out raids and disconnection drives across the state.
Consumers with outstanding dues will face disconnection as per the provisions of the Indian Electricity Act, 2003.Additionally, those found guilty of power theft or unauthorised consumption will be penalised, disconnected, fined, or even imprisoned in accordance with the law, cautioned the managing director.
Further advising all HT/LT consumers, including state government consumers, to settle their outstanding dues immediately, H Shantikumar said MSPDCL has already initiated disconnection drives across the state, and the same will be intensified with immediate effect.
The MD urged for public cooperation to ensure a reliable power supply for all.
