Imphal, April 23 2025:
Sagolband MLA RK Imo Singh on Tuesday inaugurated a newly renovated G+1 Citizen Development Committee (CDC) Club building at Salam Leikai Maning Leirak, coinciding with the 134th Khongjom Day observance.
The event commenced with offering of floral tributes to the martyred Manipuri forefathers led by the MLA in remembrance of the historic occasion.
The revamped facility now includes a solar rooftop panel system, introduced following damage from a previous fire outbreak.
Addressing those gathered at the event, including incumbent and former corporators, social activists, local leaders and residents, MLA RK Imo highlighted various developmental projects undertaken in the constituency and emphasised the increasing need for accessible community spaces.
He pointed out that multiple G+1 halls have been constructed to meet the growing demand for venues that support public events and welfare activities.
The MLA remarked that future large-scale constructions may be limited due to space constraints but hinted at the possibility of upgrading existing structures like the Salam Leikai community hall based on public need.
Touching on infrastructure, he acknowledged residents' challenges caused by the ongoing sewer project, particularly deteriorating road conditions in Sagolband.
He assured that once completed, major roads will be upgraded to rigid pavements, while internal roads will be surfaced with blacktop or paver blocks to ensure durability.
Imo Singh also reflected on the impact of the "Go To Leikai" initiative, launched in 2022, which brought government services directly to residents' doorsteps.
He highlighted recent financial assistance of Rs 20,000 each to four individuals under the "MLA Ana Layengi Tengbang" scheme, noting that over 300 patients have benefited so far.
He encouraged community members to refer potential beneficiaries, regardless of political affiliation.
During the event a proposal was made by Heisnam Premila, a local resident, to establish a library for students in the new CDC building, to which the MLA pledged prompt action.
