SHEIPAL celebrates 18th foundation day

Imphal, August 22 2024:
Sheihek Seireng Sheipal Semgat Lup (SHEIPAL) celebrated its 18th foundation at the Loktak hall of Manipur Press Club, here, on Thursday.
As a part of the celebration lyricists Nandalal Roy and Mayanglambam Sumati were respectively honoured with presentation of the Sheirengba 2023 and Sheirengba 2024 titles consisting of cash, citation and stole.
Moreover, former presidents of the Lup namely Dr Thokchom Chandra, Khangembam Iboton and Ranjit Singh Irungba and SHEIPAL awardees Kshetrimayum Subadani, Ngangom Norendrajit and Rakesh Naorem were felicitated by presenting simple gifts.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar recalled how Manipuri language was included in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution on August 20, 1992 along with pointing out that Manipuri language is being used for more than 2000 years.
He also called upon everyone to contribute their mite towards further enrichment of the language and stated that no one should be ashamed of using their mother language.
The foundation day celebration presided over by SHEIPAL president Dr Athokpam Khelchandra was also attended by Imphal East Zila Parishad former Up-adakshya Dr Ksh Tama, Angel Children Hospital and Vaccination Centre, Uripok Achom Leikai managihg director Dr Yaikhomba Taorem and social activist Dr Kiran Yendrembam as guests of honour.
