Imphal, December 21 2024:
Expressing concern over the absence of teachers at Sora Tera Houbi Government Primary School, the All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO) has urged the authorities concerned to ensure that adequate number of teachers are posted at the school ahead of the next academic year.
In a statement, AMMSO informed that only two teachers are officially posted at the school, but both are being utilised elsewhere, leaving the institution without any teacher.
The organisation demanded immediate intervention from the government and the education department to send the required number of teachers before the beginning of the 2025-26 academic session.
The organisation highlighted that for over five years, a lone teacher nearing retirement age managed the school.
However, since the teacher s retirement in December 2023, the school has been without any teaching staff for the past year.
According to AMMSO, the school management committee had previously submitted a written representation to the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) and the director of education (S) on November 22, last year, urging authorities to address the situation and post teachers at the school.
Despite this, no action has been initiated, resulting in students being deprived of classes throughout the current academic session, it rued.
AMMSO questioned the education department's intent, asking if there were plans to dissolve the school, and criticised the neglect of the government's much-touted School Fagathansi Mission.
