A public rally denouncing the abduction and killing of innocent women and children and demanding a halt to terrorist acts, was taken out in Thoubal district on Thursday even as several organisations continued to condemn the brutal murder of the civilians.
The public rally organised jointly by Khunai Kan-ba Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (KHUKAMPAL), All Thoubal District United Clubs Organisation (ATDUCO), Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), Thoubal District Committee, Apunba Nupi Khunai Lamjing Meira Lup, Thoubal and All Manipur Women's Volun tary Association (AMAWOVA), Thoubal was taken out from Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal Okram, and ended at the starting point after covering Thoubal Market, and taking a U-turn from near Melaground, Yairipok Lamkhai.
During the rally, the participants chanted slogans accusing the government of India of instigating conflict between communities of Manipur, demanding complete repeal of AFSPA from Manipur and declaring that any attempt to wipe out the indigenes of Manipur would be dealt with appropriately.
Meanwhile, Purum Riem Council, Manipur (PRCM) has strongly condemned the abduction of three women and three children from a relief camp and subsequent killing all six in Jiribam.
In a press release issued by its publicity secretary K Achung Purum on Thursday, PRCM said that the incident merits condemnation by people all over the world.
It said that Chin-Kuki-Zo, a nomadic community which claims to be Christians but is in conflict with all other communities, has tainted Christianity.
The Pope needs to take action against the churches build by this community with the ulterior motive to receive funding under the guise of spreading Christianity, the secretary stressed.
It continued that the inhuman and beastly nature of Chin-Kuki-Zos has tainted other-communities following Christianity.
In addition, failure of the valley CSOs to forge unity has eroded the people's trust, and the government exploiting such disorientation.
It has also provided ample opportunity to the Chin-Kuki-Zo to mock at the valley organisations, which have been formed to fight for people's rights, maintained the secretary, while declaring that PRCM will always stand against any group which works against humanity.
Meanwhile, Nongpok Sanjenbam Meira Paibi and Clubs under FOCS-Working Committee staged a sit-in protest against the prevailing conflict in the state on Thursday.
During the sit-in, the protestors held placards inscribed with the slogans, "Punish the killers of six hostages", "Declare 10 Chin Kuki Zo MLAs, ITLF and CoTU as terrorist organisations", "Review and repeal AFSPA", and "Implement NRC in Manipur and
deport illegal immigrants" .
