Imphal, May 20 2025:
Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday advised state agriculture ministers to actively participate in the upcoming Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, scheduled from May 29 to June 12, and work towards maximising benefits for farmers.
Speaking virtually from Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi, Chouhan described the campaign as a major initiative to boost agricultural production, ensure food security, and improve farmers' livelihoods.
He emphasised coordinated efforts between central and state governments to transorm Indian agriculture into a profitable venture, noting the sector as the backbone of the Indian economy.
Chouhan commended the record food grain production this year, crediting joint efforts by all states and ministries.
He said the campaign will realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Lab to Land' vision by directly connecting farmers with scientific knowledge and innovations.
Under the initiative, 2,170 scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will visit villages to train farmers, share researches, and gather feedbacks to guide future innovations.
The minister further called for a unified approach with the spirit of "one nation, one agriculture, one team", and urged states to ensure the success of this nationwide campaign ahead of the Kharif sowing season.
