Imphal, April 19 2025:
As part of its continued commitment to the well-being of border communities, Assam Rifles conducted a comprehensive community outreach initiative in the form of a medical camp at New Samtal village in Chandel district on Saturday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the camp aimed to provide essential healthcare services to residents of the remote area, where access to basic medical infrastructure is limited.
The initiative also included awareness lectures on lifestyle diseases.
During the camp, AR health officials and staff attended to the health needs of senior citizens, women, and children, offering consultations, basic diagnostics, and medicines.
Special focus was laid on disease prevention, hygiene, and nutrition through a counselling session.
A total of 85 villagers benefited from the camp, which concluded with refreshments for all participants, it added.
Meanwhile, at Sehlon village, AR conducted an awareness programme on lifestyle diseases, addressing rising concerns related to hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.
The session highlighted the importance of a balanced diet, regular physical activity, yoga, and conscious lifestyle choices while discouraging tobacco and alcohol use, it said.
The release further stated that an interactive session allowed villagers to engage directly with the medical team, seek clarifications, and discuss personal health issues.
The session was attended by 135 villagers.
