MAC 7th biennial convention in Toronto

The 7th biennial convention of Manipuri Association of Canada (MAC) was held on August 3, 2025 in Toronto, Canada with the participation of Manipuris residing in different parts of the country.
The convention featuring speeches from community elders, and outgoing and newly appointed office bearers commenced with a spirited group patriotic song 'Pari Imom Samu Pangalbasa' setting a proud and unifying tone.
Adding to the vibrancy of the gathering, women participants performed a Meetei dance thereby captivating attendees with traditional elegance.
The convention also showcased a variety of cultural programmes with enthusiastic participation from both the young and the elderly, a statement of MAC informed.

The MAC convention not only honoured the dedication of past leaders but also embraced fresh leadership with optimism and unity, promising continued growth and engagement for the community.
The convention later announced the appointment of its new office bearers for the year 2025-2027 .
In a historic moment, all the newly appointed office bearers are women, symbolising a powerful step forward in women's leadership within the community.
The newly appointed office bearers are Ranibala Kshetrimayum (Calgary) as president, Sujata Chabungbam (Toronto) as general secretary and Sujata Nongmaithem (Vancouver) as assistant secretary/treasurer.
Sunita Thokchom (Toronto), Asha Devi Laishram (Toronto), Triveni Laishram, (Toronto), Fony Soram (Montreal) and Sujata Devi (Calgary) were also appointed as executive members, the MAC statement added.
