Jiribam, August 18 2024:
Residents of Jiribam district strongly opposed the recent transfer of doctors from the district hospital and demanded authority concerned to withdraw the transfer order within three days.
Addressing the media at the Babupara office of Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL) on Sunday, District Hospital Monitoring Committee, Jiribam convenor N Sadananda said the Committee along with CSOs and Meira Paibi groups have been urging for efficient functioning of the lone hospital in the district along with raising various issues including lack of infrastructure, equipment, facilities and most importantly doctors.
The importance of the hospital, is felt more in the current situation as the state is facing an unprecedented armed conflict.
Amid such a challenging situation, a recent order of the health directorate transferred Dr Oinam Basu, Dr Anil Kumar Prasad and Dr Thiyam Bharat without sending any replacement.
Terming the act as a serious blow to the hospital and the people of the district, he demanded the authority to withdraw the transfer order within three days.
In case the government fails to respond positively, the Committee along with CSOs, Meira Paibi and residents of the district will launch different forms of intense agitation, he cautioned.
