Tribute ceremony honours singer Shyam

The Sur Tarang, Tingri Awang Leikai organised tribute paying ceremony in honour of singer (late) Aheibam Shyam at Marjing Polo Complex, Heingang, on Friday.
The event marked by offering of floral tributes to the portrait of the celebrated vocalist was attended by Cooperative Society registrar Waikhom Ibohal and AIR Imphal approved artiste Heisnam Raghumani Singh as chief guest and president respectively while senior broadcaster Chongtham Kamala and AIR Imphal programme executive Heikhrujam Devendra were the guests of honour.
Aheibam Bimolata, wife of Shyam, was also honoured with gifts on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Waikhom Ibohal, while pointing out the profound role of music in human life, noted that life is a balance of joy and sorrow and music plays a vital role in helping people cope with both.
Such a rich and expressive art form should be valued and respected in all aspects of life, he stressed.
Stating that the soulful voice of the late singer continues to resonate in the hearts of listeners, offering comfort and emotional connection through its timeless quality, he said that Aheibam Shyam's songs are deeply intertwined with the journey of life and remain unforgettable.
"If programmes like this can help young and aspiring artistes of the state understand the immense contributions Aheibam Shyam made to Manipuri society, it will not only inspire them but also serve as a significant boost to their artistic growth," he added.
