V&AH Deptt eyeing pony registration

Imphal, January 18 2025: After getting approval from the government, the State Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Department in coordination with different stakeholders will start registration of Ponies.

Informing the development to media persons Saturday, director (veterinary & animal husbandry) RK Khogendrajit said steps for registration of Ponies above six months will be initiated very soon in coordination with associations working on horses.

Before the registration, the department will start verification of pony owners for extending incentives or financial assistance, he said adding that incentives/financial assistance will be provided through associations.

According to the director, a committee comprising of officials of the department, representatives of Manipur Pony Society, Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association, Manipur Equestrian Association and All Manipur Polo Association will conduct verification of pony owners as well as identify ponies above six months.

Clubs and associations may also consult officials of the department for details of the registration and identification of ponies, he said adding that pony registration will be begin in the valley districts first and then to the hill districts.
