MPCC celebrates Independence Day

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) joined rest of the country in celebrating the 78th Independence Day at Congress Bhawan, here, on Thursday with MPCC president Keisham Meghachandra hoisting the national flag.
Addressing the event, Meghachandra said that the Congress party has been celebrating the day since the country attained independence in 1947, sharing the joy of freedom with the rest of the countrymen.
He called upon the people to relentlessly strive for peace and tranquillity while paying homage to the freedom fighters who stood up against the colonial British and fought for freedom.
He also conveyed the party's wish for a peaceful and developed Manipur by resolving the current crisis.
Former chief minister Okram Ibobi, MLAs K Ranjit, Th Lokeshwar and Surjakumar Okram, AICC CWC member Gaikhangam and several party leaders and workers were also present at the event.
