Two books by Nando released

Imphal, June 16 2024:
Two books, titled "Manipuri Khorirolda Lan-nai Mityeng" and "Khongul Amasung Mayi", written by Ningombam Nando Singh, were released in a function held at the Manipur Press Club, here, on Sunday.
The book release function organised by Fiction and Poetry Club, Manipur was held with Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal president Longjam Joychandra and Club president Dr Heishnam Budhachandra Singh as chief guest and president respectively while Sahitya Akademi awardee Yumlem-bam Ibomcha, MU Mani-pun Department associate professor Dr Wahengbam Kumari Chanu, MU School of Humanity's former dean professor Nahakpam Aruna and critic and translator Laishram Memo were guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, Joychandra pointed out that many Indian languages are not included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution nor granted recognition by Sahitya Akademi as they lack literary history.
However, Manipuri language is accorded a prestigious status, having its own script and recognised by the Sahitya Akademi, as well as inclusion in the 8th Schedule.
