Meitei Alliance, LTTSS condemn killing of CRPF trooper

Expressing vehement condemnation over the killing of a CRPF trooper and inflicting injuries to three other security personnel in Jiribam district on Sunday, Meitei Alliance extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured ones.
In a statement, the Alliance said that the attack on a joint team of 20th Battalion CRPF and Manipur Police was carried out by Chin-Kuki cross-border terrorists.
While paying tribute to the slain Ajay Kumar Jha, a 43-year-old from Bihar, for his supreme sacrifice, it noted that the latest in a series of attacks by Chin-Kuki terrorists in the state.
Ajay Jha's martyrdom marks the 12th loss among security personnel to Kuki terrorist groups, said the Alliance while voicing frustration over the government of India's half-hearted response to such threats.
Despite multiple attacks, lack of decisive action has left over 60,000 people in relief camps under sub-human conditions for more than 14 months, maintained the statement and called on the government of India to take immediate and effective actions to bring the perpetrators to justice and dismantle the terrorist groups.
It also urged for restoration of the rule of law in Manipur to ensure that its citizens can once again take pride of being a part of the world's largest democracy.
Langol Lukhoi Thang-Ta Sin-dam Shang (LLTSS) also condemned the ambush carried out by Kuki militants that led to the death of a CRPF trooper.
Describing the attack as an open challenge to the country, LLTSS also reminded all concerned that Manipur has a history of being a sovereign power by defending its territorial boundary and population for thousands of years.
After the merger into the Union of India, the responsibility for protecting the territorial boundary from foreign militants and regulation of entry of illegal immigrants came under the ambit of the Central government.
Unfortunately, significant number of illegal immigrants and foreign terrorists are causing chaos in the state due to failure of the Central government in cheeking such activities.
The way the Central government is handling the conflict in the state is nothing but a mockery, the Shang said in a statement, while demanding that the Centre launch operation and take actions against the Kuki militants or else transfer full power to the state to deal with the situation.
