Gaan-Ngai celebrated with grandeur in Delhi

Imphal, January 15 2025:
Rongmei Women Cultural Dance Troupe (RWCDT), Delhi NCR organised a grand celebration of Gaan-Ngai 2025, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Rongmei Naga community.
The event, held on January 12, at the Nurses Residential Complex, Sri Niwaspuri, New Delhi, brought together members of the community and well-wishers from across Delhi NCR to celebrate the festival held under the theme "Our Festival, Our Identity" .
In release, RWCDT informed that the programme began with the 'Huay Kauhmei' chant, where participants chanting "Ho-Ho-Ho" set the festive mood.
Traditional dances such as 'Kit 'Laam and 'Siandaih Laam' captivated the audience, while a cultural fashion show showcased the Rongmei community 's unique attire, it said.
Interactive activities like Dingrian Laam fostered unity, and musical performances by artistes including Lankhuingam John, D Thongongthui, and Dimkulung Pamei added festive flavour to the celebration.
A patriotic Rongmei song by Huineiguang Rwangmei served as a highlight of the evening.
Among other, Faitheal Biotech co-founder Dr Marim Joice Gonmei, Rongmei Nurses Delhi & NCR secretary Regina Gangmei, and joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance Lucas L Kamsuan, attended the celebration, during which assistant professor Luh Angela Gangmei delivered an insightful speech on the festival's theme.
The event concluded with Pazeihmei, a symbolic dance and song celebrating unity.
Organised by a dedicated team led by Luh Gaisangliu Gonmei, the event successfully showcased the cultural richness of the Rongmei community, while fostering pride and togetherness, the release added.
