Events conducted under BBBP scheme

Kakching, February 13 2025: Kakching district administration, in collaboration with the District Programme Officer (DPO), ICDS Cell, organised a series of events under the 10th Edition of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative on Thursday.

As part of the programme, officials conducted a plantation drive at Sekmaijin Gram Panchayat.

Additionally, an awareness programme on the pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic techniques (PC & PNDT) Act, 1994, was held at Sekmaijin Social Club community hall.

The PC & PNDT Act, 1994, serves as a key legislative component of the BBBP initiative.

Launched on January 22, 2015, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao', which translates to 'Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child', aims to promote gender equality and empower women through education and awareness.

The initiative seeks to raise awareness among citizens about gender bias and enhance the effectiveness of welfare services for girls.

It also aims to foster societal behavioural changes regarding the birth and rights of girls, promoting gender equality and women s empowerment.

Additionally, the scheme focuses on preventing gender-biased, sex-selective practices, ensuring the survival and protection of girls, and encouraging their education and active participation in society.
