Imphal, February 10 2025:
Aftermath of some national media quoting Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan as saying that he welcomes resignation of chief minister N Biren Singh and is ready to re-establish ties with the BJP, NPP state president Yumnam Joykumar has sought explanation from the MLA for announcing a political decision without consulting party leaders.
Joykumar even sent a letter, asking clarification from MLA Noorul Hassan, who was recently appointed as party's state working president, for announcing a seemingly unilateral political decision.
MLA Noorul Hassan reportedly told some national media that NPP decided to withdraw support to the BJP-led coalition government in the state after having no trust in the N Biren-led government to resolve the crisis in the state and the same was clearly mentioned in NPP national president Conrad Sangma's written statement.
Now that N Biren Singh has resigned from the CM's post, NPP being a political partner of NDA would work together and support BJP again, Sheikh Noorul Hassan had told some national media.
In the letter addressed to MLA Noorul Hassan, Joykumar said that there was no communication with national president Conrad Sangma regarding the announcement made through the media and even cautioned the MLA not to express unauthorised political decision.
Joykumar further stated in the letter that NPP is working to bring back peace and normalcy in the state and party will take political decision based on political develop ment.
He also questioned Noorul Hassan as to why such a key political decision was taken without the approval of party's national president or state president.
He then asked MLA Noorul Hassan reply within January 12 .
