Imphal, April 09 2025: A one day discourse on 'Teacher Education in Manipur and Way Forward' was organised by Department of Higher and Technical Education at City Convention Centre, here, on April 7 .

As per a release by university & higher education additional director P Shantikumar Singh, the programme was chaired by National Education for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi Eastern Regional Committee (ERC) chairperson Dr Dibyajyoti Mahanta and attended by commissioner (higher & technical education) H Gyan Prakash, university & higher education director Valentina Arambam, NCTE ERC member & Manipur University School of Education dean professor Premlata Maisnam, officials of Higher Education Department, Education (S), SCERT and principals of government and government-aided colleges of Manipur.

Discourse on teacher education organised

The discourse featured thorough deliberation on the state of teacher education in colleges and universities of Manipur with special emphasis on introduction of four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) .

All the issues besetting the teacher education in the state and possible solutions for the same were discussed in-depth with the participation of all the officials and heads of Institutions present, it informed.
