Imphal, March 09 2025:
Imphal-Pangei Road Joint Development Committee (IPRJDC) has drawn the attention of Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla towards the deplorable condition of Imphal-Pangei and urged him to take up black-topping work of the road stretch.
In a letter addressed to the Governor, Committee convener Salam Ibopishak said 'Imphal-Pangei road is a State Highway linking different government departments, educational and paramedical institutions, particularly Sainik School, Imphal and Manipur Police Training Centre, Pangei along with state force battalion and Forensic Science Department.
This said road is presently in a deplorable condition thereby causing dangerous accidents and loss of human lives apart from the dusty condition posing health threat to the locals.
IPRJDC decried that despite repeated requests/demands to the department concerned, no positive action has been initiated to repair the same for more than 10 years.
The matter was brought to the notice of the ministry concerned from time to time and discussed in the Manipur State Assembly but the problem remains unaddressed, leaving the public frustrated and agitated over continuous negligence by successive governments.
As such, the Committee urged the Governor to look into the matter and order black-topping of the Imphal-Pangei road at the earliest possible.
