Imphal, March 08 2025:
A tussle broke out at Utlou Sajor pre-fabricated house on Saturday after Bishnupur DC issued an order to relocate five displaced families, who were sheltering there, to another relief camp without offering any explanation.
A woman lost consciousness during the altercation and was subsequently hospitalised.
The woman has been identified as Keisham Sangita Devi, 47, wife of Keisham Nando Singh from Churachandpur Mandop Leikai, who was currently taking refuge at the Utlou Sajor pre-fabricated house.
Speaking on the matter, the IDPs reminded that Bishnupur DC had issued an order to relocate five families who were taking shelter at the pre-fabricated house, without providing any explanation.
They questioned the need for these families to be moved to another relief camp.
The five families affected include Thokchom Naoba Singh (53) from Churachandpur (Bijang), Kayenpaibam Romen Meitei (33) from Thingkaingphai in Churachandpur, Moirangthem Khamba (57) from Churachandpur Khumujamba Meitei Leikai, Keisham Nando Singh (55) from Churachandpur Mandop Leikai, and Laishom Raj Singh (28) from Churachandpur Bijang Khunou Meitei Leikai.
The IDPs pointed out that these five families have been actively working for the welfare of other inmates sheltering at the pre-fabricated house, and questioned the reason behind the order to relocate them.
Peace Committee Nambol A/C volunteers, nodal officer and Nambol police station OC met the IDPs but could not give the reason for the order to relocate five families staying at the pre-fabricated house selectively.
The scuffle occurred when the officials told the five families to sign papers for their relocation, wherein Keisham Sangita lose consciousness and was rushed to hospital.
